HAMPTON - Eugene V. “Geno” Cote, 91, of Hampton died peacefully Friday, Dec. 26, 2014 at Oceanside Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Hampton. He was born in Lawrence, Mass. on Aug. 4, 1923, the son of the late David and Marie-Anne (Pelletier) Cote.
Geno has lived in Hampton since his early 30s where he has held various jobs in the construction industry. He was a proud veteran serving in Patton’s Army. He saw action in northern France, Rhineland, central Europe, and participated in the Battle of the Bulge, where he was awarded the Purple Heart for his combat injuries.
Geno was a people person, and a well-known face throughout Hampton Beach. He also enjoyed spending time with dogs Sugar and Pepper. Family members include his best friend and companion for 30 plus years Sheilagh Bortone, of Hampton beach, his sister Gertrude Borile, of North Andover, Mass. and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brother Lellis Cote, and sisters Grace Goddard and Delores Lacourciere.
There will be no visiting hours. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015, at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church in Hampton. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Burial will be private.
